MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Georgia College & State University women's volleyball's Alanis Bernis has been named the Zaxbys Player of the Week ending Sept. 28.

Bernis, a senior defensive specialist from Auburn, Georgia, had 68 digs, 13 assists and four service aces in 13 sets as the Bobcats (8-5) went 2-1 last week. Bernis tied her career high for digs with 31 in GCSU's five-set Peach Belt Conference win over the defending regular season champions Lander University. Bernis, who is ranked No. 2 all-time in the GCSU record books with 1,390 digs, also had 22 digs in win at Fort Valley State University and 15 more against Augusta University. 

Bernis is ranked first in the PBC and 10th nationally in the latest NCAA Division II statistics in digs (266). She is also ranked second in the league and 39th nationally in digs per set (4.93).

The Bobcats return to action Friday (Oct. 3) when they travel to Aiken, South Carolina, for a 6 p.m. PBC contest against the University of South Carolina-Aiken.
