GCSU seniors look back on their journey as final regular-season game approaches

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. |  As they prepare for their last regular-season game, seniors Aidan Kudlas, Oscar Lynch and Tony Carpio reflect on the ups and downs, memories made and lessons learned throughout their time with the Georgia College & State University men's basketball program.

The final regular-season game for the Bobcats will take place at Flagler College Saturday (Feb. 28) at 3:30 p.m. in St. Augustine, Florida. The Peach Belt Conference Tournament quarterfinals will begin Wednesday (Mar. 4).

Kudlas, from Dawsonville, Georgia, plans to attend medical school with his biology degree. Kudlas described his time at GCSU as "the perfect place for me. It was full of ups and downs, but I wouldn't trade it for anything," said Kudlas.

Kudlas reflects on what basketball has given him.

"All the memories and lessons I could have ever imagined," said Kudlas. "How to be a teammate, leader and competitor. How to win with humility and fail without giving up. It has given me the ability to know what true hard work is. It has been my outlet, emotionally and physically, all my life."

Someone who has helped him during his time at GCSU is his teammate Lynch. Lynch, who is originally from Cumming, Georgia, and is a marketing major. He plans to pursue marketing or finance post-graduation.

"I have absolutely loved my time at GCSU," said Lynch. "Being a part of the basketball team, being involved with Campus Catholics, making so many amazing friendships, enjoying the academics of the CoBT (College of Business and Technology) and so much more," said Lynch.

Carpio, who is a Suwanee, Georgia, native, said his favorite memory was beating UNG (University of North Georgia) on the road during his junior year. Carpio is a business finance major and plans to own a business one day.

"My time at GCSU has been awesome. Amazing memories, and I made so many great relationships," said Carpio.

If Carpio could give a piece of advice to those starting in college basketball, it would be "work hard and give it your all. You only get one shot at it, and it goes by fast, so make the most of it and embrace the bad but enjoy the good times."

Kudlas, Lynch and Carpio would like to thank their coaches, friends, family and teammates for helping them on and off the court as well as GCSU for giving them the best four years.
