GILBERT, Ariz. | Georgia College & State University men's tennis player
Chase Martin enters the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division II Computerized Singles Rankings.
The objective of the ITA Rankings is to accurately reflect team and player performance occurring solely within sanctioned college tennis dual matches and tournaments and solely within one given academic season. The ITA Rankings Algorithm is based on an accumulation of win points and loss points, accounting for a win-loss record, the strength of schedule, and the depth/significance of wins and losses. As the season progresses, the value of each win and loss adjusts to reflect the most recent ranking of the opponent. The ITA rankings is for publicity purposes only and is not used in the selection process for the NCAA Division II postseason.
Martin, a graduate student from Tampa, Florida, enters the singles rankings at No. 44. Martin, who has compiled a 10-7 singles ledger this spring, enters the computerized rankings with 8.64 points. Martin defeated then-ranked No. 5 Pedro Liborio from the University of North Georgia Sunday (April 12).
The Bobcats close out their regular season with two Peach Belt Conference matches this weekend. GCSU will host No. 5 Columbus State University in a 2 p.m. contest at the Centennial Center Tennis Courts. The Bobcats will recognize their seniors prior to the match at 12:45 p.m. GCSU will travel to Augusta, Georgia, for a 2 p.m. match Sunday (April 19) against No. 40 Augusta University.
