MARTINEZ, Ga.- The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) announced the Academic Team of Distinction, presented by Barnes and Noble, for both Men's and Women's Tennis.
The list kicked off with the members of the men's team where the Bobcats had three spots claimed. Gabe Cizek (Prague, Czech Republic) led off the list with his 3.79 cumulative GPA as an exercise science major. Karol Malirz (Marbella, Spain) was the second and final sophomore from the men's side on the list with a 3.57 cumulative GPA in business management. Enzo Sergi (Nice, France) rounded out the Bobcat Men's Tennis honorees with a 3.67 cumulative GPA in management.
GCSU Women's Tennis put five on the list including three sophomores, a junior and a graduate student. Shradha Chhabra (New Deli, India) started off the list for GCSU with a 3.83 cumulative GPA as a psychology major. Chiara Santoro (Santa Ursula, Spain) was the second sophomore on the list as she has a 3.83 cumulative GPA in exercise science. Sofia Shing (Aukland, New Zealand) was the final sophomore on the list for the Bobcats as she claims a 3.95 cumulative GPA as a liberal studies major.
Emma Fleming (Suwanee) is the lone graduate student for GCSU with a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA in her master's of health and human performance. Ashton Morrison (Cumming) capped off the Bobcat honorees with a 3.93 cumulative GPA in special education.
To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must participate in at least half of the team's events and be either a starter or a significant contributor. They also have to have achieved a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and completed at least one full academic year at their current institution and have reached sophomore athletic eligibility.
