#26 Bobcat Women Edged at #30 Francis Marion, 5-3

FLORENCE, S.C. – The No. 26 Georgia College women's tennis team (13-5, 6-3 PBC) dug a hole in doubles action it couldn't recover, falling eventually to No. 30 Francis Marion University (12-3, 8-2 PBC) 5-3 Sunday.

Doubles play started a 2-1 hole for the Bobcats, with Georgia College picking up a victory in the third slot.

Katie Krupp (Evans, Ga.) and Cristalei Polk (Powder Springs, Ga.) beat Savanna Summers and Veronika Viegas 8-3. Krupp and Polk remain a perfect 3-0 on the season, a new pairing that started at the end of March.

In first doubles, Ivana Marevic (Rottweil, Germany) and Camille Clausse-Pujo (Bourdeaux, France) lost to national No. 16 doubles pair of Julia Graf and Nora Westbye 8-5. In the second slot, Hannah Serdinia (Suwanee, Ga.) and Macy Polk (Powder Springs, Ga.) lost 8-6 to Samantha Koelliker and Kimberley Hurter.

Singles results started in the first slot, with Macy Polk dropping a 6-1, 6-2 bout to Koelliker. Cristalei Polk helped the Bobcats pick up another point with her 10th straight singles victory, improving to a team-best 14-3 with a 6-3, 6-0 defeat of Hurter.

Serdinia brought the match even at 3-3 with a win over Viegas in fifth singles 6-1, 6-0. The Patriots picked up the wins they needed in three-set matches at the third and second slots.

First, Marevic fell to Westbye in a 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 and then a Clausse-Pujo loss to Graf 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 clinched the team match. When FMU got its fifth win, Krupp was up on Caitlin Siney 6-4, 2-0.

The Bobcats fall to 6-3 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play, good for sixth in the league standings with four conference games left.

The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, April 9 at 2 p.m., taking on No. 2 Armstrong Atlantic State University.
