COLUMBUS, Ga. – Georgia College Softball continued their winning streak in Columbus after taking down the Miles College Golden Bears, ending the game early with a 11-3 victory.
The Bobcats continued the momentum they displayed against Tuskegee University when they solidified a first-inning lead against the Golden Bears of Miles College. Faith Flanders (Dublin) repeated her performance from the previous game when she ripped a grand slam. After another series of Bobcat RBIs, Kristen Brooks (Brunswick) earned two RBIs when she got the second home run of the inning and sent a teammate home.
A scoreless second inning was followed with an attempt by the Golden Bears to catch up to the Bobcats, grabbing three runs in the top of the third. Pitcher Marisa Boyette (Marietta) kept the final two innings scoreless and the Bobcats claimed an 11-3 win in the fifth inning by run rule.
Georgia College had a stellar performance at the plate against Miles College. Flanders continued to lead the team in RBIs with four, followed by Brooks and Baylee Hall (Hephizibah) with two apiece. Hall and Flanders were the only two Georgia College players to hit doubles during the game.
Boyette kept the Golden Bears at bay tossing four scoreless innings while on the mound. She finished with five strikeouts and only gave up six hits throughout the contest.
The Bobcats continue to play in Columbus facing off with Bellarmine University tomorrow, Feb. 14, at 12 p.m. Georgia College Softball also plays against Lincoln Memorial University at 2:30 p.m.
