Box Score MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. –Georgia College Soccer (1-0) took care of business with a 2-0 win over the University of Mount Olive Trojans to begin their 2016 season.
The Bobcats were dominant on the offensive side of the ball with a total of 14 shots on goal lead by forwards sophomore Ragnheidur Bjarnadottir's (Gardabaer, Iceland) and junior Amanda Bartholomew (Peachtree City) who both scored in Saturday's contest.
The Bobcats came out strong in the first half with a rebound by Unnbjorg Omarsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland) who nicely assisted Bjarndotttir's for the put away.
The Trojans struggled to find an answer for the Bobcats strong offense as Bartholomew broke away from the defense for a second-half goal to give the Bobcats a 2-0 lead.
The opening day win was attributed to not only a strong offensive front but also a difficult defense that allowed only one shot on goal which was saved by senior Jessica Catapano (Alpharetta) to preserve the shutout.
The Bobcats are back in action in Milledgeville Sunday, Sept. 4 at 3 p.m. against the visiting Newberry College Wolves.
