#31 Bobcat Women's Tennis Upset at #37 Francis Marion, 6-3

FLORENCE, S.C. – The No. 31 Georgia College Women's Tennis team (11-8, 7-4 PBC) saw a five-match win streak halted 6-3 Friday at No. 37 Francis Marion University (12-7, 8-4 PBC). The five-match win streak was the Bobcats' longest of the season.

The Bobcats started on the right foot, taking two of the three doubles bouts. In second doubles, Macy Polk (Powder Springs, Georgia) and Hannah Serdinia (Suwanee, Georgia) beat Eva Lieben and Anilu Barraza Ariaza 8-5. Polk and Serdinia teamed for their 10th doubles win this season.

The third doubles pairing of Kristen Jones (Marietta, Georgia) and Camilla Negrini (Milan, Italy) topped Sofia Henning and Anna Wintrich 8-3.

The duo of Samantha Koelliker and Marie Krueger was too much for Jena Kelly (Lawrenceville, Georgia) and Emma Niemi (Cumming, Georgia) in an 8-1 Bobcat loss.

Singles results started in the third slot, where Negrini fell short to Krueger in a pair of 6-1 sets, evening the team score 2-2. Lieben gave FMU the lead with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Kelly in the second line.

The Patriot run continued, as Polk couldn't solve No. 25 Koelliker in a 6-2, 6-3 loss in first singles. Fourth singles provided the match-clinching point, as Henning topped Serdinia 6-2, 6-4 for the 5-2 team score.

Jones provided the lone Georgia College singles win next in a three-setter over Magan Head in the sixth slot, 6-2, 5-7, 10-4. The Bobcat junior is now 9-7 in singles play this year. Another marathon came in fifth singles to end the day, as Niemi lost to Wintrich 6-7(7-4), 6-2, 10-6.

The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow, April 15 at 10 a.m., hosting No. 24 Flagler College for Bobcat Senior Day.
