GC Baseball Finishes Shortened Season on All Three Rankings Lists

COLLEGIATE BASEBALL NEWSPAPER NCBWA NCAA POWER RANK

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Baseball team (13-2, 9-2 PBC) saw what was shaping up to be a great season come to a close early, and was recognized in the latest editions of three different national rankings lists.

In the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Division II Poll, the Bobcats are positioned sixth. GC is tops among the three Peach Belt Conference (PBC) schools on this list, followed by No. 11 Columbus State University and No. 28 UNC Pembroke. UC San Diego owns the nation's top slot with a 17-4 mark. This list is put together by a committee of coaches nationwide.

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) has Georgia College in the No. 22 position. The Bobcats are second among the two PBC schools in this one, as CSU owns the No. 13 slot. Angelo State University is tops in this list, put together by a committee of the nation's sports information directors.

No. 9 is the position for the Bobcats in the DII Baseball Power Rankings on NCAA.com. The University of Central Missouri is the top team in this list, produced each week by the NCAA's Wayne Cavaldi.

The Georgia College Department of Athletics, two-time winners of the PBC Commissioner's Cup and a former PBC Sportsmanship Institution of the Year, sponsors 11 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level. As a Division II program, Bobcat Athletics prides itself on balancing the life of the student-athlete, evidenced by the teams' multiple appearances in post-season competition as well as documented academic success and community-service involvement.
