Bobcat Men's Hoops Stays Undefeated, Topping Erskine, 90-62

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Men's Basketball team (2-0) continued to put up the points Saturday night, running away from Erskine College (0-2) 90-62 Saturday, closing out the Tri-Conference Challenge tournament.

The Bobcats never trailed, Wesley Simpson (DeLand, Florida/Union Grove HS [Ga.]) getting a layup on the first possession, sparking a 15-4 run to start the game. Erskine got the large lead down to as low as six, but could inch no closer. The Bobcats led by as much as 30.  

Simpson led all scorers with 22 points, adding eight rebounds and four assists, all three numbers recording team-highs.

Junior AJ James (Bowman) scored a career-best 16 points off the bench, including a 4-for-5 effort from long range. Senior Jordan Thomas (Conyers) had 11 points, while junior Chris Parks (Buford) posted 16 points and six rebounds.

The Bobcats out-shot Erskine 48 percent to 37 percent from the field. GC caused 19 turnovers and only coughed it up eight times. Twelve different players reached the scoring column in a balanced effort for Georgia College.

The Bobcats are back in action Friday, Nov. 19 at 4 p.m., traveling to Clayton State University to take on Tuskegee University.
