MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- Sophomore setter Riese Johnson of the Georgia College & State University volleyball team has been named the first Zaxby's Player of the Week honor of the year. 

Johnson participated in all three matches this week for the Bobcats last week and put up some impressive numbers.

In the first conference win of the season on Friday versus the University of South Carolina-Aiken, Johnson nabbed her career high in assists with 47 in the four-set match. She continued her outstanding weekend in the Saturday contest with Carson-Newman University as she put up 32 assists. Johnson also had 12 assists in the midweek match with Augusta University bringing her assist total to 91 for the week.

Not only was Johnson outstanding on the offensive side of the ball she had three outstanding defensive performances. She had 32 total digs through three matches. In the match with C-N, she tied her career high of 14 digs. In the contest with Augusta, Johnson had eight digs and then added 10 more against USCA. She was also apart of the great wall of Bobcats picking up three blocks in the match with Carson-Newman. 

The Bobcats will be in action Tuesday (Oct. 17) when they travel to Rome, Georgia, for a 6 p.m. match against Shorter University.
