INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. | Georgia College & State University is listed sixth in the Southeast region in the second regional rankings for the 2026 NCAA Division II Softball Tournament.
There will be one more published regional ranking before the final selection by the NCAA for regional play May 11. Eight teams will be selected in the Southeast region for the national tournament. In the Southeast region, the winners from the Peach Belt, South Atlantic Conference and Conference Carolinas (Francis Marion University) tournaments earn automatic berths while the other five will be at-large selections based on the regional rankings.
GCSU is currently 26-18 overall and in fourth place in the Peach Belt Conference at 14-10. The Bobcats are one of four Peach Belt institutions under consideration. GCSU joins No. 1 University of North Georgia (37-7), No. 4 Lander University (31-16), and No. 5 Columbus State University (30-19) in the second ranking. The other teams listed in the ranking are No. 2 Francis Marion (41-11), No. 3 Lenoir-Rhyne University (37-11), No. 7 Wingate University (23-17), No. 8 University of Mount Olive (31-21), No. 9 Southern Wesleyan University (37-14), and No. 10 Anderson (S.C.) University (34-10).
The Bobcats return to action Friday (May 1) with a 2 p.m. Peach Belt contest doubleheader against Middle Georgia State University at the Bobcat Softball Field . The teams will also play a 2 p.m. game Sunday (May 3). GCSU will recognize its seniors after Sunday's (May 3) contest.
